In some locations and industries, the employment market may not afford jobs to all graduates. HOPE also provides assistance to selected students who desire to start their own businesses, either self-employed or with others. Such students must be entrepreneurial, motivated, and disciplined. HOPE provides counseling, guidance, help with understanding regulations, and the financial collateral necessary for the youngsters to borrow from banks to start up their businesses. Among the businesses started in this way are a restaurant, a ceramics cooperative, a welding shop, a furniture shop, etc.
